Norner coating laboratory performs CUI testing

Corrosion under insulation is the corrosion that occurs when steel equipment becomes corroded as a result of water penetration.

Corrosion under insulation is extremely critical as it makes up a large percentage of the global process industries maintenance expenditures, forced shutdowns and lost production.

To provide good corrosion protection we can simulate CUI (corrosion under insulation) conditions in our laboratory through the following tests:

  • ISO 19277 (Qualification testing and acceptance criteria for protective coating systems under insulation)
  • Hot/ cold cyclic test.
Norner performs cyclic climate chamber testing

Norner performs a wide range of cyclic climate chamber tests to simulate different climate with numerous possible test conditions under laboratory controlled yet accelerated conditions.

  • Fixed temperature and humidity from -70 °C to +250 °C
  • Temperature cycling -70 °C to +189 °C with controlled humidity up to 95%
  • High temperature cycling from +100 °C to +650 °C
  • Cryogenic exposure
  • Salt spray

Cyclic Immersion testing in different climate conditions.

Custom test conditions as per client`s request.

Testing ISO 12944 at Norner

Norner performs testing in different environmental conditions to measure the corrosion resistance of your product. With accelerated weathering tests we can for instance simulate the influence of salt, moisture and sunlight.

We perform coating testing in accordance with ISO 12944 - the international standard on corrosion protection of steel structures by protective paint systems:

  • ISO 12944-6 Laboratory performance test methods
  • ISO 12944-9 Protective paint systems and laboratory performance test methods for offshore and related structures

For more specific requirements we offer salt spray test methods in various conditions.

Norner is granted ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation

Norner is granted ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation for our protective coating testing. This is the most important quality standard for test laboratories internationally.

The scope of the accreditation includes
